Schuylerville launches new district website

The Schuylerville Central School District has launched a newly redesigned website after more than a year of careful planning, design, production and content migration. This new site offers many of the same features visitors are accustomed to – and more.

“Our goal was to make it easier for users to find the information they’re looking for and to make the content accessible for all users on all platforms,” said Chief Information Officer Stacey Rice. “We started by collecting input last fall through an online survey. We also looked at user data to determine what information was accessed most often and what types of devices our visitors are using to access that information.”

The new site offers an updated look with a responsive layout that adapts to different devices, including smart phones, tablets and desktop computers, as well as multiple web browsers.

Visitors will notice most information is categorized by eight major topics across the top of the page: About Us, Academics, Athletics, Board of Education, District Services, Employment, Forms & Policies and News. Clicking each of these tabs will bring visitors to a new page with several sub-heads of information relevant to the main title.

All school pages have a consistent design and organization. This will help parents know where to look to find particular information and to keep visitors connected to the overall district site as they navigate between school and district pages. Announcements pertaining to specific buildings will continue to be posted on individual school homepages.

“We’re very excited to begin the new school year with this new website,” Superintendent Dr. Ryan Sherman said. “It’s a great resource for our community and an excellent tool to showcase the many achievements of our students.”

Some of the new features include:

Calendar – The district is now using a Google calendar which feeds directly to the district website and app. Users can sync district, school or athletic events with their own personal Google calendar.

Contact – The new site includes a staff directory database, searchable by first name, last name, or e-mail address.

Featured Video – The redesigned homepage includes a “Featured Video” section. This section will be regularly updated throughout the school year with videos from classroom projects, events, programs, etc.

Athletics – The athletics page will look different to visitors. Please click here to learn more about how the athletics department will be communicating schedules, scores and other information.

Please take some time to explore the new website. Feel free to e-mail Chief Information Officer Stacey Rice with any questions or feedback.
