Voters pass 2026-27 budget and bus lease proposition, Katie Brunson re-elected to the Board of Education

Schuylerville Central School District residents passed a $40.8 million budget for the 2026-27 school year by a vote of 378 to 121 on Tuesday, May 19, a margin of 76%. The approved budget carries a 2.12% spending increase and an estimated tax levy increase of 2.99%. Tax rates for individual properties will be determined over the summer once equalization rates and assessments are available for the district’s seven towns.

The bus lease proposition also passed by a vote of 395 to 103, a margin of 79%. The lease will replace eight, 65-passenger buses and reflects the five-year total cost of $1,334,500, which will be budgeted annually over five years.

“On behalf of the district, I would like to thank our community for their continued support and for participating in this year’s budget vote,” said Superintendent Ryan Sherman. “This budget reflects our ongoing commitment to maintaining strong academic programs, student opportunities, extracurricular activities, and student support services, while remaining fiscally responsible to our taxpayers. We are grateful for the trust our community continues to place in our schools.”

“We appreciate the time our residents took to stay informed and participate in the voting process,” said Board of Education President Bernie Buff. “This is a fiscally responsible, forward-thinking budget that keeps students at the forefront and positions the district to continue delivering strong educational opportunities.”
