Unified Sports program expands to include bowling

Unified Sports, an opportunity for students that promotes social inclusion and offers athletic and competitive experiences at a regional level, launched last spring for Schuylerville CSD with basketball. This year, the district is proud to announce its Unified Sports program will expand to include bowling! Special Olympics Unified Sports joins people with and without disabilities on the same team, with an origin inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. Students with limitations in adaptive areas (players) will be paired with other Schuylerville High School students (partners) during play. No experience is required; the season will be a collective effort among faculty, staff, and students!

Currently, the district is in the process of building a roster for the 2024 Schuylerville Unified Bowling Team. Schuylerville will compete with many of the schools in the surrounding local districts. If a student is interested in participating as a player or a partner, the student or student’s parent/guardian should send an email to unifiedsports@schuylerville.org. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate as partners and players. The team will be coached by Schuylerville High School P.E. teacher Kristen Miller and Schuylerville CSD Unified Sports Liaison Chad Jorgensen.
