New staff members join administrative team

Looking ahead to the next school year, the district has several new staff members joining the administrative team this summer.

Paul Irish

Paul Irish joined the district in June; he will serve as District Treasurer and oversee the Facilities Department. Previously, Paul served as a Project Manager for Saratoga Project Management since 2017, and worked on Schuylerville’s most recent capital project. His knowledge of our district’s buildings and grounds will be essential in his new role. Paul also worked in several other project management roles through the years, including BBL Construction Services and Central Consulting LLC.

Christine Burke

Christine Burke will join the district July 1 as the Assistant Superintendent for Business. Christine is the current Chief Financial Officer for the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES. Previously, she spent more than seven years working for the Berkshire Union Free School District as Controller and Assistant Superintendent of Operations, and six years as a senior accountant for the New York State Education Department. Christine has a Master of Business Administration and a School District Business Leader Certificate.

Maddie Wright

Maddie Wright will join the district July 1 as the Elementary and Middle School Assistant Principal. Maddie comes to us with experience as an elementary teacher in Spain (she is fluent in Spanish), a middle school teacher outside of Boston, and is currently a high school Spanish teacher at Shenendehowa.  As an administrative intern, she led districtwide initiatives such as The Seal of Biliteracy and has supported teachers, students, and families both in and out of the classroom.

Sarah Battiste

Sarah Battiste will join the district July 9 as the K-12 Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Professional Development. Taking into consideration the effects of COVID-19 and long range planning for teaching and learning, the district will benefit from having someone full-time to support instruction and professional development. Sarah is currently the Assistant Director for Professional Learning for the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES, and has also served as the WSWHE BOCES Lead Coordinator for Curriculum. Previously, she was an assistant principal for Dorothy Nolan Elementary School and the Brighter Choice Charter School for Boys in Albany. Sarah has NYS School Building Leader and School District Leader certificates, and Masters of Education degrees in school counseling and school administration/leadership.

Thank you to Peter Riggi, Marian Chrisman and Todd Gonyeau for their time, dedication and service to our district. They have been valuable members of our administrative team and we wish them well in their retirements!
