District’s Backpack Program accepting donations and new families

The district’s Backpack Program, which assists students in grades K-12 on a weekly basis, is taking requests for the 2026-27 school year. Every Friday, students whose families are in need confidentially take home a backpack with breakfast, lunch, and dinner supplies for the weekend. The backpack also includes snacks, a loaf of bread and a Stewart’s gift card for a 1/2 gallon of milk. The program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children on weekends. Families do not need to qualify for free or reduced-price meals (or meet any other qualifications) in order to be part of the backpack program. All requests are kept confidential and can be sent to Cassy Luthringer or Pam Driscoll.

In addition, the program will graciously accept any monetary or food donations to be used this year. Please see the contact information below.
