“I truly enjoyed my time working here and meeting so many people that I will continue to stay in touch with! This school has always felt like a family, and I was fortunate to have strong support and sincerely kind friendships—from our custodians to administration and everyone I chatted with along the way. I will take this opportunity to apologize because I do realize that was A LOT of chatting! Getting to know families and helping all my students on their individual educational paths has been deeply fulfilling. I leave knowing I did everything I could to make a difference in many young lives. I wish the entire Schuylerville community the very best as you move forward. You’ve got this! Remember to support each other from both home and school, you’re in this together! Our 4th grade team faced some tough times, but I will never forget my colleagues who absolutely are the best of the best, and all the students I worked with along the way. Thank you all for helping me grow over the past decade—with a very special thanks to Dave Mehan.”

“It has been an absolute privilege to serve the district that raised me. From riding the bus as a student to parking my own car as a teacher, these past 50 years have been an unforgettable ‘ride.’ The connection of being an alumni teacher is profound—sharing parent-teacher conferences with old friends and watching their families grow through generations has been a highlight of my career. My deepest thanks go to the mentors and retirees who paved the way; I am so grateful for the years we spent working together.”

“My thank you’s begin with my first principal and assistant principal, Tom Martin and Patti MacPhail (and Tom’s “right hand,” Thelma Hack), who saw in me the type of person and teacher who would fit in at Schuylerville. From there, they extend to every other administrator who has guided me, the secretaries, school counselors and computer specialists who had to put up with me, my teaching colleagues and fellow coaches who have helped me in so many ways (some of whom have become and remain my closest friends), EVERY staff member who do their jobs with passion and caring, our Board of Education and their vision for this amazing school going back to when I started and who continue this vision today and, of course, the student body of Schuylerville (and their families), who have lived and will continue to live in my heart forever. Anything that I have accomplished (in and out of school) would not be possible without the role that you have played in my life and I want to thank each and every one of you for helping to make this dream come true. I am beyond grateful for your guidance, mentoring, compassion and friendship and I am beyond blessed to have had you in my life. Thank you, Schuylerville, for making me a Black Horse forever!”
