District’s Caring and Sharing program receives $1,500 donation

The district would like to thank local business, Cerrone Builders for a donation of $1,500 to the district’s Caring and Sharing program, which conducts several outreach efforts throughout the school year for families in need.

The Caring and Sharing program serves children in the Schuylerville Central School District from birth to graduation of high school.  It is a coordinated effort between Lisa Schwartz (elementary school), Erin Welch, Natalie O’Brien and Rebecca Nesbitt (middle school), and Pam Driscoll (high school/preschool). The program is available year round for families who are in need, but also conducts an extensive, annual holiday outreach that provides gifts for children who otherwise might not receive any.  The Caring and Sharing program also assists children of families that have experienced a loss by death or fire, providing school supplies and clothing. Requests are received from parents, teachers, local clergy and/or community members who may know of a child in need.

In addition to holiday gift giving, the Caring and Sharing program provides support during the school year for students who do not have needed resources for their classes, such as school supplies, gym clothes and sneakers.

“This is truly a community supported program,” said Schuylerville High School Nurse, Pam Driscoll. “We exist through the generous donations of community members, teachers, student groups and companies. We are very thankful for the continued support that enables us to do what we do.”
