2023-24 safety drills

Throughout the course of the school year, school districts in NYS are required to conduct safety drills to ensure students and staff understand what they need to do in case of an emergency. While the drills are required by the state (eight evacuations and four lockdowns) they are also an important aspect of Schuylerville CSD’s safety plan.

This school year, the remaining lockdown drills will be announced/unannounced in the following manner:

  • 1st lockdown drill: this will was completed on Sept. 26 and was announced.
  • 2nd lockdown drill: this drill will be announced at the beginning of the day during which it will occur.
  • 3rd lockdown drill: this drill will be announced at the beginning of the week during which it will occur.
  • 4th lockdown drill: this drill will be announced at the beginning of the month during which it will occur.
  • 5th lockdown drill: this final drill of the school year will be unannounced.

This process was determined after discussions with the district’s safety committee and the New York State Police, in an effort to prepare our students and staff for potential emergencies in the best way possible. At the conclusion of each drill, we will send communication out to staff and families to let them know one was conducted and complete.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We thank our school community for their continued commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all.
