Flanders recognized by National Football Foundation’s Capital District Chapter

Martin Flanders

Schuylerville High School senior and student-athlete Martin Flanders was recognized by the Capital District Chapter of the National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame as one of the top 12 overall winners for 2023. Flanders, a running back and defensive end for Schuylerville’s varsity football team, was honored at a luncheon at the Polonaise Ballroom in Albany, along with athletes from every Section 2 school. He was accompanied by his family, Schuylerville CSD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, John Bowen, and Assistant Coaches, Nicholas Richard and Jack Burger.

Flanders gave a speech in front of over 300 attendees, reflecting on his four years as a student-athlete.
“Football has taught me the ability to compartmentalize and let no single moment define me, but rather be present in the next moment to come.”
