Students tour Schuylerville High SchoolDuring the annual freshman transition summer event, members of the Class of 2027 had the opportunity to visit the building and get acquainted with school counselors, teachers, and their peers prior to the first day of school. Students received tours of the building, learned about the pathways to graduation, and engaged in a presentation “Dream Big,” by motivational speaker and former NFL player Ricky Sapp.

Ricky Sapp presents to Schuylerville High School students.During Sapp’s presentation to Schuylerville’s newest high school students, he talked about his journey through life so far. Drafted to the NFL in 2010, Sapp played for the Philadelphia Eagles, NY Jets, Houston Texans, and Washington Redskins. While Sapp recalled inspirational coaches and mentors that helped guide him, he emphasized the importance of viewing high school as a pathway to future success.

“I lived out my childhood dream of playing in the NFL, but one thing I will always have is my education,” said Sapp. “I hope you understand how important your education is. My advice for you is to figure out what you’re really passionate about. If you know what you want to do, I encourage you to go after it. If you don’t know what you want to do, I encourage you to try new things to find that passion. When you find your passion, it will never feel like work.”
