The district would like to thank local business, Cerrone Builders for a donation of $1,500 to the district’s Caring and Sharing program, which conducts several outreach efforts throughout the school year for families in need.
In 2020, the program’s holiday outreach alone provided toys or hobby-related items for more than 50 children in the Schuylerville community. In addition, children received an outfit or two, underwear, socks and any other essential items including winter coats, boots, shoes, sneakers, and bedding. Requests are received from parents, teachers, local clergy and/or community members who may know of a child in need.
In addition to holiday gift giving, the Caring and Sharing program provides support during the school year for students who do not have needed resources for their classes, such as school supplies, gym clothes and sneakers.
“If there is a child in need, we are there to help as best we can,” said high school nurse, Pam Driscoll, who helps coordinate the program alongside Erin Welch and Lisa Schwartz. “We would not be able to carry out any of these initiatives without the generous support from the Schuylerville School District community and the Schuylerville community at large. We have such a generous community that does not hesitate to donate. We are truly blessed.”
