Schuylerville Elementary students participated in the school’s second-annual March Madness Picture Book Tournament, an effort coordinated by School Library Media Specialist Maria Weeks. 26 classes from grades K-5 participated, reading a total of 16 books during the month of March. Weeks updated the bulletin board bracket daily so students could see which books were in the lead. Votes were cast each week tournament style, until a champion was named during a celebratory school assembly.
The final two books were:
- Swish! The Slam Dunking, Alley-Ooping, High-Flying Harlem Globetrotters by Suzanne Slade (winner)
- Bathe the Cat by Alice McGinty (2nd place)
