Schuylerville Elementary School believes academic excellence and high achievement result from well-balanced classes. Parents of students currently in grades K-4 (entering grades 1-5 next year) have an opportunity to provide information regarding their child(ren) to guide this process in planning for the 2024-25 school year. This optional form is due on Friday, May 17.

Please do not request, positively or negatively, individual teachers on this form; we do not take parent requests for teachers. However, if past experiences play a role with a teacher match (i.e. sibling experience) that is important for us to be aware of.
Parents wishing to share information regarding their child(ren) are encouraged to do so each year as this information does not carry from year to year. Using teacher and parent input, measures of achievement, and indicators of individual needs, we will determine the most appropriate placement for each child.
We will consider:
- Maintaining a good ratio of achievement levels, special talents, and needs of students.
- Relationships that students have with one another and their ability to work well together.
- The teacher’s teaching style and the student’s learning style.
- The class placement process is extensive and therefore after placements are made, we will not be able to make changes (as this has the potential to disrupt the balance of one or more classrooms.)
