2023-24 ES Summer Letter

Dear Schuylerville Elementary families,

We hope this letter finds you well and your family is enjoying the summer months! The purpose of this correspondence is to ensure our records are up to date for the 2023-24 school year and inform you of important events.  Included in a mailing sent to families the week of Aug. 7:

  • A letter from the Food Service Department
  • Student/Parent/Contact Information Sheet
  • Daily Dismissal Form
  • Early Release Form

Due to the enormity of changes, please return the forms to the main office by Monday, August 21. You can also fax this information to Missy Germain at 518-695-6405 or email germainm@schuylerville.org. Please notify the main office at 518-695-3255, ext. 1224 if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Student/Parent/Contact Information Sheet

The student/parent/contact information sheet allows us to update a student’s demographic data.  This will ensure that we have a current address and parent/guardian contact numbers.  If you have an address change, you will need to provide two forms of proof of residency to the Elementary Main Office.

Daily Dismissal Form

The daily dismissal form must be completed for each child in your family. New this year: an electronic form was emailed and if you completed that, you do not need to complete the paper copy. As the year progresses, and if you need to make permanent dismissal changes for your child, please contact dismissal at 518-695-3255 ext.1225, or esdismissal@schuylerville.org.

Early Release Form

The early release form must be completed and returned for each child in your family.  This form provides us with the exact information to use if we encounter an unplanned early dismissal/release (due to loss of power, electricity, gas leak, inclement weather, etc.).  In the event of an emergency, you will be notified via the district’s communication system, SchoolMessenger. All families must have a dismissal plan for their child in the event of an unplanned early release/dismissal.  The default dismissal plan for your child will be their regular dismissal plan (excluding After School Program students).

Walkers

If your child is going to be a walker, they will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. from their classroom and exit the building through the main entrance doors.  It’s important to note, walkers are considered students who will be leaving the elementary building and walking to their scheduled destination.  To eliminate traffic congestion, we are asking parents/guardians not to drive on campus to meet their walkers.  Parents/Guardians can choose to meet their child at an agreed upon off campus location which may or may not be the home.  We do NOT allow kindergarten students to be dismissed as walkers for safety reasons.  This is also the case for unexpected early release incidents.  Kindergarten students who live within walking distance from the school, will be released as pickup students each day for dismissal.

Pickup Students

If your child is a pickup student, they will be dismissed from the elementary gymnasium beginning at 3:05 p.m.  These students will need to be signed out by a parent/guardian.  Photo identification is required by the person signing out a student as a safety protocol.  Parents/guardians will be required to wait outside while we dismiss each child.  One parent/guardian will be permitted inside the door at a time.

Bus Transportation

If your child is going to be dismissed via bus transportation, they will be dismissed as their respective bus arrives between 3:00 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. from their classroom and exit the building through the main entrance doors.

Please remember that any student needing to be picked up during the day should be signed out at the main office no later than 2:15 p.m. unless there is an emergency. Additionally, students should not be arriving at school prior to 8:50 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Before School Program or scheduled activity.  Students that arrive prior to 8:50 a.m. will wait outside the building of the main entrance. Doors will open at 8:50 a.m. We encourage all students to arrive by 9:00 a.m.

As you prepare for the school year, I encourage you to review the district calendar on our website for important events and holidays.  The following are important dates to note for September:

  • Wednesday, September 6:  Kindergarten Orientation, 12:30 p.m. – 1:40 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 6:  New Student Orientation, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
