Voters pass school budget, elect Board members

Schuylerville Central School District residents passed a $36.2 million budget for the 2019-20 school year by a vote of 602 to 199 on Tuesday, May 21. The 2019-20 budget is 1.95 percent more than the budget for the current school year. The Schuylerville Public Library budget for the 2019-20 year also passed by a vote of 573 to 221. Voters elected two candidates to the Schuylerville Board of Education and elected two candidates to the Schuylerville Public Library Board of Trustees.

“On behalf of the Board of Education and administration, I want to thank the hundreds of community members who took the time to vote today,” said Superintendent Dr. Ryan Sherman. “The community’s support of the 2019-20 budget will allow us the resources to continue to provide our students with a quality education and exceptional opportunities.”

Elections

Voters elected Jessica Schwerd and Joanna Crowley to the Board of Education. Schwerd had 452 votes and Crowley had 439 votes. Both will fulfill a five-year term beginning on July 1, 2019. Bernard Buff, Jr. had 325 votes and Jack Macica had 287 votes.

In the Schuylerville Public Library Board of Trustees election, voters elected Patricia L. Partello and Laura Dooley with 433 and 575 votes respectively.
