In just its second year in the Foothills Council, the Schuylerville varsity field hockey team clinched the league title. The undefeated Black Horses went 16-0 and outscored their opponents 71-5. Coach Erin Lloyd says the team is cohesive and united. She says the team motto is “work horse.”

“This group of seniors has dedicated so much time to the game of field hockey; playing in tournaments all winter, attending team camp in the summer and utilizing the turf field to get together and play,” Lloyd said. “They have also dedicated numerous tenth periods and taking advantage of summer workouts to improve their speed and athleticism. This season’s success is the culmination of years of work.”

Schuylerville earned a second seed and will take on the winner of Monday’s (Oct. 19) opening-round game between Warrensburg and Corinth. The Black Horses’ game will be Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. at home.
