Travel advisory reminders

Dear Schuylerville families/faculty/staff,

As the February break approaches, we would like to remind families, faculty and staff about the New York State travel advisory and how it can impact a student’s ability to attend school or a faculty/staff member’s ability to come to work. The following guidelines currently apply:

Scenario One

Travelers from states that border New York (Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont) are exempt from the travel advisory; however covered travelers must continue to fill out the Traveler Health Form

Scenario Two

For any traveler to New York State from a state that does not border New York, a US territory or CDC level 2 and higher country, the guidelines for travelers to test-out of the mandatory 10-day quarantine are below:

  • For travelers who were out-of-state for more than 24 hours:
    • Travelers must obtain a test within three days of departure, prior to arrival in New York.
    • The traveler must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine for three days.
    • On day 4 of their quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test. If both tests comes back negative, the traveler may exit quarantine early upon receipt of the second negative diagnostic test.
  • For travelers who were out-of-state for less than 24 hours:
    • The traveler does not need a test prior to their departure from the other state, and does not need to quarantine upon arrival in New York State.
    • However, the traveler must fill out our traveler form upon entry into New York State, and take a COVID diagnostic test 4 days after their arrival in New York.

The local health department must make contact with the state the traveler came from, to ensure contact tracing proceeds there as well. All travelers must continue to fill out the traveler form upon arrival into New York State.

Scenario Three

    • All air passengers coming to the United States are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board a flight to the United States. Click here for more information on international travel.
      • If you must travel internationally:
        • Before you travel, get tested with a viral test 1–3 days before your trip.
