Schuylerville High School students in Dave Gauci’s technical trades classes are helping with the construction of a new visitor center in the village. Students have created a framing model of the new Champlain Canal Region Gateway Visitor Center that will be built on Route 29 near Fort Hardy Park. The classes learned about post and beam construction as they recreated the structure as a 3/4″ scale model. Students were required to work off of a set of architectural plans to create the parts and assemble the model to specifications. The model itself will be on display at the visitor center once the center is complete. The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors has invited the students to attend the raising of the structure on June 17.
