Spring 2022 assessments: grade 8

Dear Schuylerville Middle School families,

The NYS Grade 8 Science Assessments (performance and written) will be administered on Tuesday, May 24 and Monday, June 6. Student attendance is very important on these days. In the event of sickness, your child will be tested on the day they return to school. Below are schedules and other important information related to these exams.

Grade 8 New York State Science Assessment

Lab Performance Test

The NYS Science 8 Lab test is on Tuesday, May 24 and will be given in three middle school classrooms. Students will be divided into three groups and rotated through three separate lab stations. Students are given one hour to complete the exam. The groups will be posted in the main lobby on Monday, May 23. The schedule will be as follows: 

Group 1: 8:00-8:55 a.m. The students in Group 1 will report to 1st period for attendance and then report to the hallway near Student Services. 

Group 2: 9:00-10:00 am: The students in Group 2 will go to their regularly scheduled 1st period and 2nd period classes.  At the beginning of 3rd period students in Group 2 will report to the hallway in front of Student Services.   At the end of the exam students will report to lunch and resume their regular schedule.

Group 3: 10:55-11:50 a.m.  The students in Group 3 will go to their regularly scheduled 1st period through 4th period classes.  They will have lunch and then report to the hallway outside of Student Services at 10:50 a.m.

Written Exam
  • Monday, June 6
  • Periods 1, 2 & 3

Regents Testing

  • Regents in Algebra I: Thursday, June 16, 8:00 a.m.(only students enrolled in Algebra)
  • Regents in Earth Science: Friday June 17, 12:00 p.m. (only students enrolled in Earth Science)
  • The lab portion of the Earth Science Regents will be given in class and lab on Tuesday, June 14.
