A friendly soup competition between Schuylerville faculty and staff helped raise more than $1,500 for a teacher battling cancer.
On Thursday, Feb. 11, faculty and staff members gathered to sample soups made by their colleagues. The event was created to help raise donations for Jessica Sorbero, a kindergarten teacher, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and will start her treatments soon.
Bryanna Ekblom was named the ‘soup off’ champion with her walkabout onion soup. Laura Dooley and Casey Anderson tied for second place with buffalo chicken soup and seafood chowder respectively.
