Schuylerville High School senior Eric Azotea has accepted an offer to shoot NCAA rifle for National Champion Coach Tori Kostecki at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega in the fall of 2016.

Azotea started his competition rifle training five years ago with New York State Smallbore Director Chuck Meyer at Iroquois Rod and Gun Club. For the past four years, he has participated on the Galway Junior Rifle team coached by Chuck Boykin at Galway Rod and Gun Club.

Azotea has earned Distinguished-Expert National Rifle Association (NRA) Marksmanship Qualification Awards in both 4-Position (4P) Smallbore Rifle and International Air Rifle during his training at Galway.

This year, he took second place in the NRA Junior Three-Position (3P) Air Rifle Sectional and third place in the Precision Indoor Prone Rifle (PIPR) Championship final in smallbore. Last year, Azotea’s air rifle team was ranked third in the nation in 3P Air Rifle by the NRA.

Azotea received a presidential tuition waiver from the University of North Georgia where he will major in Film Studies in the fall. He is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
