Dress Code

As a reminder, the senior prom is a formal dinner/dance and students must be dressed appropriately.  As a school-sponsored event, all rules and regulations outlined in the student handbook and code of conduct will apply during the prom and after-prom events.

When selecting prom attire please be aware that the following dress code is in place:

  • Evening gowns & dresses
  • Tuxedos or suit & tie

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Robinson as soon as possible for clarification. Schuylerville High School coordinates a project called Cinderella’s Closet that provides prom gowns to any senior girl who might otherwise not be able to afford a gown. It is available to all of our senior girls, free of charge. We are also able to access gowns from the capital region’s chapter of Cinderella’s Project. For more information visit their website at www.cinderellaproject.net or call Mrs. Driscoll. Currently, we have no comparable program for our senior boys, but if there are financial constraints for accessing appropriate prom clothing, please contact Mr. Robinson or Mrs. Driscoll as soon as possible. We want to help ensure that all seniors who wish to attend the prom are able to!

Guests

The senior prom is a high school function; attendance at the prom is restricted to high-school-aged students 14-19 years of age and who are in grades 9-12. Seniors may invite a guest who does not attend Schuylerville CSD or who is beyond high school age (18 – 20 years of age). As a guest, these individuals must receive written permission from the administration to attend. A guest form must be filled out and approved by Mr. Ducharme / Mr. Tezanos in the main office. The completed forms must be filled out and returned to Mr. Robinson by Monday, May 2. Click here for a guest permission slip.

 After-Prom Party

An alcohol and drug-free after-prom party will take place at the Fun Spot in Queensbury. Students will have many fun activities available such as: outdoor go-kart races, laser tag, mini golf, roller skating, video games (self-pay) and other fun activities. Refreshments will be available to the attendees throughout the evening.  Transportation will be provided, if needed, from the Cooley Kill Restaurant to the after-prom, and back to Schuylerville High School at the end of the event. Parents are required to sign a permission slip regarding attendance at the prom and after-prom before a student can purchase a prom ticket. Prom attendees’ guests must also have the permission slip completed and returned when their prom ticket is purchased. Click here for the after-prom permission slip.

Students whose form states that they will be attending prom and after-prom events will be expected to attend and stay until completion at both prom and after-prom events.  Only students who are picked up by a parent/parent designee will be allowed to leave the after-prom earlier than 2:30 a.m. These arrangements must be made with the class advisor, Mr. Robinson, prior to Thursday, June 9.

All students participating in the school sponsored after-prom event will return to the high school by 3:00-3:15 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 11. A parent or parent designee must be at the school to pick up their student at that time.

Friday, June 10

Students participating in the senior prom must be in attendance for 1st and 2nd periods on Friday, June 10. Students with permission letters will be dismissed from the end of 2nd period to get ready for the events. The events of the morning will be a senior breakfast, senior assembly, and Prom Court voting.

We hope that our seniors will be participating in this time-honored tradition. If you and your child have made alternative arrangements for after prom activities, be aware that these events are not endorsed by the school. We hope that all other non-school related activities will remain alcohol and drug-free, as well. Let’s hope that everyone is safe and has a great time!
