Rules and restrictions for parking on campus

With the school year now in full swing, the Schuylerville Central School District would like to take the opportunity to remind those driving on campus of the rules and restrictions for parking and/or picking up and dropping off students.

Parking is limited on campus due to construction on the ongoing capital project. Students who are assigned a bus are encouraged to take this provided transportation to and from school to cut down on traffic on campus. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted signs and to proceed slowly and cautiously when driving on campus. Please note that parking along the sidewalk that goes around the turf field is not allowed.

During the morning hours, there are additional restrictions on where drivers can park and/or drop off a student.

High School Drop Off:

  • From 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., only school buses are allowed to drive and park in front of the high school entrance. No other vehicles should enter the area during this time as it could pose a safety risk and/or slow down the arrival and unloading of buses.
  • In order to avoid traffic and getting stuck waiting in the bus loop, the best time for high school drop off is between 7 a.m. and 7:25 a.m. High school students should be dropped off in the interior parking lot outside the exterior bus loop.

Middle School and Elementary School Drop Off:

  • From 7:30 a.m. to 9:05 a.m., only school buses are allowed to drive and park in front of the elementary school entrance. No other vehicles should enter the area during this time as it could pose a safety risk and/or slow down the arrival and unloading of buses. Middle school students should be dropped off in the interior parking lot in front of the elementary school and use the crosswalk and enter through the middle school entrance. Elementary school students should be dropped at the same location and enter through the elementary school’s main entrance.

During the afternoon hours, there are also some restrictions on where drivers can park and/or pick up a student.

Pick Up:

  • From 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., only school buses are allowed to drive and park in front of the elementary school entrance. No other vehicles should enter the area during this time as it could pose a safety risk and/or slow down the loading of buses following dismissal. At dismissal, those picking up a student should park in front of the high school and students should use the crosswalk near the concession stand and walk down the sidewalk in front of the high school. Once the buses have picked up middle school students, they will circle around to the high school and those waiting to pick up a student will need to move in front of the elementary school if the student has not arrived at the vehicle yet.

Student Parking

Student parking is limited this year due to the ongoing capital project. Seniors were invited to participate in a student parking draft over the summer and 52 student parking permits were issued. Students must park in these designated spots and have their permit displayed on the vehicle. Students who were not awarded a parking permit and must drive themselves to school will need to park on village streets and obey the traffic laws.
