The Schuylerville High School robotics club will advance to the 2017 FIRST Robotics Championship in St. Louis after finishing second at the FIRST New York Tech Valley Regional Robotics Competition on Saturday, March 18.
“Preparation, teamwork and sticking to a plan led to our success at regionals,” said club advisor Mark Belden. “Our students and mentors are justifiably proud of what was accomplished.”
Team 4508, also known as the Steel Stallions, went 13-5 in its matches over the two-day competition and received the wildcard spot to advance to nationals. Nationals will be held April 26-29.
“Team 4508 has a busy month ahead of us,” Belden said. “Students have to balance schoolwork, athletics and robotics, and we need to double down our efforts and be ready to perform at nationals.”
The club is currently raising money to help fund its trip to nationals in St. Louis. A spaghetti dinner and raffle to benefit the team will be held on Friday, March 31 from 5-8 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. Click here for details. The team has also set up a GoFundMe account for community members wishing to make a donation.
