Parent survey: reopening of Schuylerville schools

Dear Schuylerville Families,

Schools have been tasked with creating a comprehensive reopening plan for schedules that include in-person instruction, remote instruction, and hybrid instruction. Plans must be submitted to the New York State Education Department by Friday, July 31 for review. Our school district has formed a transition committee to gather thoughts and input as the plans are created. The transition committee includes: parents, teachers, administrators, department supervisors, and Board of Education and community members. Plans will be made public once submitted. In addition, the state education department released preliminary guidance today regarding the regulatory flexibility for the reopening of schools, which will help guide the structure of the three aforementioned plans. Full guidance is expected next week. Teachers and students will be required to wear masks per Department of Health guidance and reopening plans must maximize social distancing whenever possible.

To help further aid the transition committee, a parent survey has been sent out about the remote learning period, as well as thoughts about the future delivery of education in Schuylerville. The survey will be open through Friday, July 17 at 4:00 p.m. and results will be made available to faculty, staff and district families next week.

We will continue to send updates throughout the summer about the status of reopening schools; we expect a decision from the governor in early August.

I hope you are having an enjoyable summer so far with your families.
