Schuylerville Middle School students in Kaitlyn Koch’s seventh grade music classes recently enjoyed a visit from a local composer. During the month of March, students learned about movie music and used iMovie and GarageBand to create their own movie music projects. On March 15 and 16 the classes welcomed guest speaker and local composer Andy Iorio to talk about his experience composing music for films and commercials. Iorio shared clips of his work, including an independent film, “The Perfect Color,” as well as a commercial he wrote music for. Students shared their projects with Iorio and the class further explored elements of movie music, including mood, instrumentation and effects.
