Schuylerville High School junior Emily Swenson, along with her teammates, placed eighth in the nation at the USRowing Youth National Championships in Rancho Cordova, California on Sunday, June 10. Swenson and her teammates competed in the Women’s Youth 4x race, advancing through time trials, semifinals and eventually placing second in the “B” final, falling short of first place by only 1.6 seconds. Overall, they finished 8th of 22 teams. Swenson was among 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews.
In May, Swenson competed at the Scholastic Rowing National Championship in Camden, New Jersey, winning the silver medal in the girls varsity single event.
