July 2 letter from the superintendent

Dear Schuylerville Families,

As we enter the month of July, I hope all of you are enjoying the beginning of the summer break. I’d like to reiterate that the collective effort among students, their families and our teachers to remain connected during the remote learning period was a true display of the strength of the home and school relationship. I can say with confidence that what we learned while living through the past three months has created a strong foundation for the future, no matter what that will look like. While the summer has just started, I know thoughts of the reopening of schools is not far from anyone’s mind. On behalf of the district’s administration and Board of Education, please know, it is on the forefront of our minds, as well.

While we wait for direction and guidelines from the state about what we will be required to do to safely and productively reopen, the district will be releasing a parent survey on Monday, July 13. The survey will gather thoughts from district families about the remote learning period, as well as thoughts about the future delivery of education in Schuylerville. While we will ultimately be required to implement the specific health and safety protocols issued by the state, we will have some local control about the delivery of education to our students. The survey results will help to provide valuable insight for district administrators, teachers and staff about how to best move forward in the fall. Thank you in advance for your participation.

I wish you a relaxing and safe Independence Day. Enjoy the holiday with your families and be well.

Dr. Ryan Sherman
Superintendent
