Important information for families: week of March 16

Dear Schuylerville Families,

A reminder that beginning tomorrow, Monday, March 16, classes will be canceled through April 19 in an effort to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We have offered opportunities outlined below for healthy individuals who are not showing or feeling any signs of illness to access our buildings.

Monday, March 16: buildings open 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 17: buildings open 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

During one of these times, students should retrieve items from classrooms and lockers (including iPads & iPadPros for students in grades 6-12). All K-12 lockers must be cleared out to allow for adequate cleaning, including gym lockers. Students should only make one trip to campus this week. During the duration of the closure, the Saratoga County Department of Health is asking students to stay at home and to not go to public spaces unnecessarily.

Grades K-5 Families: A four-week educational packet will be provided for each student. As families enter the elementary school, they will be directed to their corresponding grade level area in and around the main lobby to pick up an educational packet. We encourage those who are unable to pick up a packet to make arrangements with a neighbor, friend, or family member.

Grades 6-12 Families:  A four-week education plan will be provided by individual teachers through online/virtual means. Any student who does not have WiFi in the home will be provided hard copies of all materials. As students enter their respective building, they will be asked to sign-in so that we can account for the receipt of items. Individuals who are picking up materials and/or clearing out lockers for another student will be able to sign for that student.

Free WiFi access via Spectrum

Beginning Monday, March 16, Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and WiFi access for 60 days to households with K-12 students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription. Installation will be waived for new student households. Call 1-844-488-8395 to set-up the service.

Medication

Parents needing to pick up their child’s medication may do so during the times mentioned above in their child’s respective nurse’s office.

Library

The library in each school will be open to pick up books as necessary on Monday (12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m) and Tuesday (8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.).  Please note, all of the public libraries are closed.

Meals

Starting Monday, March 16, meals can be picked up each day at Schuylerville Elementary School or at the Town Hall in Victory Mills from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Each student can pick up both a breakfast and a lunch. Meals will be free to all students under the age of 18, regardless of their free or reduced lunch eligibility during the regular school year.

The district will also provide meal deliveries for families who cannot get to one of the pickup locations. Please contact Food Services Manager Sarah Keen via email at keens@schuylerville.org or by calling 860-309-7490 to arrange a delivery.

Student Support Services

In the event that your child needs counseling support during this time, please reach out to the appropriate school counselor by email and they will contact you by phone.
