Grades K-5 summer letter

Dear grades K-5 families,

Welcome to the Schuylerville Elementary School 2021-22 school year! We hope that you are enjoying summer and found time to do the things you love with those you love.   We are looking forward to seeing your children back in school for a wonderful year ahead. The entire staff has been busy preparing for your child’s return and everyone is excited to see the students this fall.   The first day of classes for all students in grades K-5 will be Thursday, September 9, 2021.  At this point, we are preparing for a full return to in-person learning.

This year, we are welcoming Mrs. Maddie Wright, as our new K-8 Assistant Principal for Schuylerville Elementary and Middle Schools!

Scheduling

Each child will receive a placement letter home in late August.  Due to the lack of guidance from the state and in an effort to meet the demand of balancing class sizes, please be aware that schedule changes to request a preferred teacher will not be entertained.

1:1 iPads & Chromebooks

Schuylerville Elementary School is excited to continue its 1:1 device initiative; this year we will be transitioning from iPads to Chromebooks for students in grades 3-5.  Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students will continue to utilize iPads. While all students worked with an iPad in the past, with the infusion of Google products that students utilize, the district is moving to a device that will streamline technology platforms.  Students will receive their device within the first week of school from their classroom teacher.

Attendance

Attendance plays a significant role in a child’s educational experience.

Materials/Supplies

Student supply lists vary by grade level.  All teachers within each grade level share a supply list.  Families are encouraged to get supplies early.  Any family in need of help with supplies will be supported.  A comprehensive list is available on the school district website.

Additional Information/Forms

Please complete the following forms and return them to the elementary school main office by August 20. Families will receive these forms in the mail or may print them using the embedded links to the forms.  This information will help us promote the health and safety of your student during the coming school year; thank you in advance for your prompt attention to them (these forms are included in the mailing home).
