Elementary students take part in Leap of Kindness Day

What would you do with an extra day?

That’s the question Schuylerville Elementary School students asked themselves as they took part in Leap Of Kindness Day, a growing movement celebrated every four years.

Elementary Principal Rose Beckett, School Counselor Cassandra Luthringer, and Sara Thornton, a Schuylerville parent and member of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce visited Stephanie Davis’ third grade class to recognize them for taking part in Leap of Kindness Day.

Throughout the week prior, students spent time writing letters to thank community members and delivered them on Feb. 29, Leap Day. The letters were given to area dentists, crossing guards, coaches, pediatricians, a librarian at the pubic library, workers at students’ favorite businesses/restaurants, and members of religious affiliations.

The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce recognized Schuylerville Elementary students for their efforts by seeking gift cards for Barnes and Noble as well as Northshire Bookstore to support classroom libraries.
