As a result of the reduction in physical distancing guidelines from 12 feet to six feet, elementary and middle school band students got the opportunity to rehearse and play together. On Tuesday, May 25, an Elementary Band Jam was held; all elementary band musicians (beginners and second-year students) in grades 4 and 5 rehearsed and performed various songs together, directed by Kaitlyn Koch.

On Wednesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 27, middle school band students gathered in alpha-split groups to “Band Together”. The student musicians played as a large ensemble for the first time all year! High school music teacher Michael Craner also joined some of the middle school students in performing.

“It was a thrill to hear the students playing together!,” said Band Director Kaitlyn Koch. “We are all looking forward to hopefully more normal circumstances in the fall.”
