Five Schuylerville eighth graders are being recognized by the Schuylerville Lions Club for the artwork they created as part of the organization’s Peace Project art show on Nov. 7, 2014. The students had their work chosen from among more than 100 pieces created and displayed by Schuylerville students.
The peace posters were part of a unit on symbolism in Mr. Robert’s eighth grade art classes. Students created the posters to fit this year’s theme: “Peace, Love and Understanding.” The students were told not to include words in their posters.
“My students enthusiastically rose to the challenge and enjoyed the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings about world peace,” Roberts said.
All pieces were displayed at the town hall and a panel of impartial judges chose the top five art pieces. The students, Lindsey Fish, Sarah Lamodi, Sydney Barber, Annika Brown and Lily LaBounty, will be recognized for their posters at the district’s board of education meeting on Monday, Nov. 17.
