The Schuylerville Central School District has a new way to help parents, students and community members stay connected with its schools. The district launched a mobile app on Feb. 1.
The app, created in conjunction with ParentLink, is available free for download in the App Store for iPhone users and on Google Play for Android users by searching for “Schuylerville Central Schools.”
The app gives immediate access to school district information and notifications on mobile phones and devices.
“We are always trying to improve our communication with our community,” said Communications Director Stacey Rice. “More and more people are getting information on their smartphones and tablets, so this is just part of the evolving process. We want to communicate with parents, teachers, students and community members in a way that works best for everyone.”
The new mobile app includes a calendar of events, news stories, lunch menus and several other resources. Parents with SchoolTool accounts can log into the app to see their child’s grades and attendance by using their current SchoolTool account information.
“This is another means to provide information to our families in a way that is convenient for them,” Superintendent Ryan Sherman said.
The school district will use the app to notify parents of important information, such as school closings.
“When we have inclement weather, people are always eager to learn if our schedule will be altered,” Sherman said. “Those who have downloaded our mobile app will be some of the first to receive these notifications.”
