Class of 2020 Recognition

May 21 update: This event has been canceled in an effort to reduce the number of gatherings on campus. A tentative date for the Class of 2020 graduation has been set for Friday, June 26 at 9:00 a.m. at the Schuylerville Black Horse Stadium. Read more here.

Dear Class of 2020 families,

A letter has been sent to the Class of 2020 seniors regarding an upcoming event we would like to hold in their honor. Right now, it remains a continued priority for the district to hold a graduation ceremony at some point, depending on the reopening process of New York State. Our scheduled date of Saturday, June 27 and location of the Saratoga Springs City Center remains tentative, as we continue to monitor news and guidelines from the state level. We will still have to adhere to mass gathering guidelines and restrictions, but we will know more about that as we get into June.

In the meantime, we want to allow our seniors to have an opportunity to be recognized and have a formal opportunity to say goodbye to campus in place of the traditional Senior Walk. On Friday, May 29, at 9:00 a.m. we are inviting all seniors to join us in the athletic stadium to receive a special recognition, along with our six retiring teachers. This event will only be for seniors and faculty/staff; no parents, community members, or other students will be able to attend. Communications Director Taryn Kane will be present to take photos and produce a video that will be shared with families and the public. Students will be encouraged to decorate their cars and use this opportunity to be recognized in front of their peers and entire K-12 staff.

Social distancing and masks will be required. We will have our seniors space out (6 feet) on the sidewalk in front of the elementary school in their caps and gowns (all students will have a specific space). Students will have their names and postgraduate plans read over the PA system as they circle the track and exit on the opposite side. On the infield, we will have our K-12 teaching staff spaced out and we will honor our six retirees.

We hope our seniors are able to join us at the end of the month for this opportunity. We know they are closing their chapter at Schuylerville in a truly unprecedented way, and hope this event will be a way for them to still celebrate the end of their academic years in the district.
