Schuylerville High School art club members had the opportunity to visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Times Square on Saturday, May 4 as part of the club’s bi-annual trip to New York City.
“We got to see so much beautiful art and several sculptures,” said senior Zoe Andrews. “My favorite part was being able to see so many different styles and movements of art.”
Art club raised enough money for the trip through its multiple fundraisers throughout the year, including selling senior t-shirts, calendars and holiday ornaments, as well as hosting paint nights and other events.
“This trip is a culmination of all of the students’ hard work during the year,” said Kirt Winslow, club advisor. “It also is a great opportunity for all four grade levels to be involved in something fun and educational. It is a great bonding experience and it is a huge highlight for the students at the end of the year.”
Winslow says the trip is a memorable tradition. And, for many students, it was their first visit to the city.
“This trip gave me memories I’ll always remember and it gave me the opportunity to spend time with people I don’t really get to see,” said sophomore Reagan Hutchinson. “I had a great time and I’m so thankful to have been given the opportunity.”
