On Friday, Oct. 8, Schuylerville Elementary School will be recognizing Fire Prevention Week. Fire departments and the emergency squad in the towns of Saratoga and Northumberland will be participating in a Fire Prevention and Education day at the elementary school.  

• Students, faculty, and staff will participate in a fire drill simulation.  
• Firefighters will be visiting 2nd and 5th grade classrooms to review fire safety rules with children.  
• All K-5 students will be given a fire truck tour.
• Kindergarten classes will be educated on fire safety while visiting the Schuyler Hose Company Fire House where they will be given a tour and fire prevention packets. 

All grade levels will have the opportunity to interact with firefighters and learn about the important equipment used by firefighters.  Educating children about fire safety is one of the most important functions of fire service.
