Two sophomores invited to attend prestigious writers’ conference

Two Schuylerville High School sophomores have been selected to attend the prestigious 2017 New England Young Writers’ Conference at Middlebury College in Vermont this May. Kaylee Foster was selected for her fictional piece, “If You Would Listen, I Would Say” and Rose Zullo was invited for her fictional piece, “The Day I Became Friends with the Stars.” Zullo says she never imagined her work would be selected.

“Honestly, I woke up in the middle of the night with the idea for this piece and I just began writing,” Zullo said.

The four-day conference offers seminars, workshops, readings and opportunities to meet fellow writers. Foster and Zullo will get to work with published authors in small group settings to gain inspiration and develop skills.

“Writing comes naturally to me,” Foster said. “I’m excited to meet new people who share the same passion that I do.”

“I think getting experience and advice from professionals is going to really help me broaden my horizons.”

The conference runs from May 18-21.
