Three Schuylerville High School students were selected to perform with the Capital Region Wind Ensemble (CRWE) on Sunday, March 25 at Schenectady County Community College. Seniors Derek Willson and Zach Galcik, as well as sophomore Meghan Clark were selected to play Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances side-by-side with the musicians of CRWE during the group’s second concert of the year.

During the month of March, students worked with CRWE members in sectionals, rehearsed with the full group and participated in master classes, where they were given the opportunity to perform solo literature in a workshop format. The students also had the chance to meet and interact with guest soloist Michael Burritt. Burritt is an active composer and head of the percussion department at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester.
