Seventh grader invited to compete in national soccer tournament
Nicole Senecal, a seventh-grader at Schuylerville Jr.-Sr. High School, has been invited to participate in the prestigious U.S. Youth Soccer Region I National Championships to be held in Portland, Maine from June 26 to July 1, 2008. Nicole, 12, is a member of the district’s modified soccer team and has been playing the sport since she was six years old.

2008 summer weight room hours
From June 30 to August 14, 2008, the weight room at the Jr.-Sr. High School will be open to Schuylerville students. Times are: Monday through Thursday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
2008 fall sports physicals
Physicals for fall sports will take place
on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.; on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m; and on Monday, July 7, 2008 from 7:45 to 11:15 a.m.

Summer physical education camp offered
If you're a Schuylerville parent who wants to ensure your son stays physically active during the summer, consider the Summer Physical Education Camp for boys in grades 7-8. Boys currently in sixth grade will also be considered for the camp; please contact John Wilson at the Jr.-Sr. High School for details.

The camps run from Monday, July 14-Friday, July 18, 2008 and Monday, July 21-Friday, July 25, 2008; hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with options for early drop-off at 8 a.m. and late pick-up at 4 p.m.

Each day will be action-packed, including many physical education units covered during the regular school year, such as flag football, dodgeball, floor hockey, handball, basketball and volleyball.

Each camper receives a T-shirt and the chance to win prizes. Cost is $55 per week. Click here for a registration form

Athletes compete in state competition
Schuylerville wrestlers Sarah Anderson and Dan Ladd advanced to state-level competition March 8 and 9, 2008 in Rochester. Sarah has an individual record of 36-1, which Dan's record is 31-1. This is the second year that these wrestlers have advanced to state competition.

On the lanes, junior Zach Dames became the first Schuylerville bowler to qualify for state competition. He rolled a 1,409 series in the sectionals tournament to earn his place at states. His season average was 202.

Runner commits to SUNY Albany on National Signing Day
Schuylerville senior Ethan Clary took advantage of National Signing Day February 6 to make an athletic and academic commitment to SUNY Albany. At Schuylerville, he has excelled in outdoor track, indoor track and cross country.

Field hockey teams go to extremes to build team spirit
Members of Schuylerville’s junior varsity and varsity field hockey teams started the fall sports season with a new sense of confidence and camaraderie after participating in the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course. Adirondack Extreme is a high-wire adventure course set in the height of the forest.
