Schuylerville High School senior Janet Hanehan will be competing next month in the New York State FFA Convention. Hanehan, along with 12 other Schuylerville students, qualified and competed in the Sub-State FFA Career Development Competitions at Cobleskill-Richmondville on April 2. Hanehan earned her spot at the state convention by taking first place in the Senior Extemporaneous Speaking competition. The top two individuals from each competition advance to the state convention in Syracuse from May 5-7.
“This was a very high level of competition,” said FFA advisor Levi Cahan. “We’re very proud of all of our members who competed and we wish Janet good luck in May.”
If Hanehan wins at the state convention, she will move on to compete in the national competition in Indianapolis in the fall.
