Schuylerville’s Carter Fritch ends high school golf career

Schuylerville High School senior Carter Fritch finished his golf season Thursday, Oct. 16 at the ABCD sectional round at Orchard Creek in Altamont, NY.

His run through the postseason began Oct. 1 at Stadium Golf Course in the Foothills Council Invitational. Fritch placed second scoring a 74. Fritch then entered sectional play at Ballston Spa Country Club with the lowest scoring average (36.8) in Section 2 for Class B schools. Fritch earned medalist honors, shooting the lowest score on the day (75) and advanced to the ABCD sectional round where Fritch advanced on day one with an 81. On the second day, Fritch finished with an 83.

“Unfortunately, his two day total was slightly above the mark to join the state team,” Coach Matthew Steinfort said. “Despite his disappointment in not placing in the top nine at the State Qualifier, his accomplishments throughout his high school career speak to his talent, work ethic and pure enjoyment for the game of golf.”
