District wins four statewide communications awards
Schuylerville Central School District has been honored
with four awards from the New York School Public
Relations Association (NYSPRA). The Elementary School's
2006 open house DVD presentation won an award of
excellence (the top award), the Jr.-Sr. High School's
2006 art and literary journal, "Looking Glass," received
an award of honor and an award of merit, while
Elementary School's 2006 DARE DVD presentation received
an award of merit.
More than 400 entries from across the state were
submitted in the contest; judges were communications
professionals from NYSPRA and the National School Public
Relations Association. The open house presentation was a
multimedia video, photo and music compilation showing
students during the first week of school. It won in the
CD/DVD category. This is the third year in a row the
district's Elementary School open house DVD has been
honored by NYSPRA.
The Jr.-Sr. High School's "Looking Glass" won the honor
award in the special purpose publication category and
the merit award in the overall graphics and design
category. It features students' artwork and writing.
This is the second year "Looking Glass" has been
recognized in the NYSPRA awards.
The DARE DVD featured video interviews and photos of
fifth graders involved in the district's Drug Abuse
Resistance Training (DARE) program. It won in the CD/DVD
category.
NYSPRA is a statewide group dedicated to the development
and dissemination of educational communications that
engage parents, staff, community residents, partners in
education and other stakeholders. The organization's
communications contest—one of the largest in the
nation—is in its 28th year. The contest is designed to
recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in
communications. |
