Welcome to Schuylerville Elementary Library
Hours: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday

Facility and Resources: The Elementary Library houses more than 20,000 books, 700 videos and 1,000 magazines. There are five dedicated online computer catalogs and five Internet-linked computers for research.

Students are usually scheduled to visit the library every other week for class and book exchange. Additional library visits are scheduled by individual teachers. The library is also open to all students for book exchange every day from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 3 p.m. Click here to link to our classroom schedule [PDF File].

Circulation Policies: Kindergartners may take out one book at a time. First- through sixth-graders may take out two books at a time. Students may exchange their books daily. They may keep their books for up to two weeks before they must renew them by bringing them back into the library for scanning. Books may be renewed up to two times before they must be returned to the library.  [top]

Library Rules: Students are expected to treat each other and the contents of the library as they would like to be treated themselves.

No gum is allowed.

Internet research computers must be used for educational purposes only.

Overdue/Lost Book Policy: If a student has one overdue book, he/she may not take out another book until the overdue one is returned. Students receive a first overdue notice delivered to their classrooms when their book is two weeks past the due date. They receive additional overdue notices every two weeks after that. When a student has received three notices through school delivery and the overdue book still has not been returned, the library sends a notice home directly to the parents/guardians. The student is offered three possible solutions: (1) return the loaned book, (2) replace or pay for the title (and the money will be returned if the book is eventually found), or (3) donate a book to the library. No student can take books out of the library until the lost book situation is resolved.  [top]
