Reference Examples
Here are examples of
how to cite references for encyclopedias, books, magazine articles and Internet sites. Make sure you follow the punctuation,
capitalization and underlining of the examples exactly.
Put your reference list in alphabetical order by the first
word/name of your reference (but ignore starting words
like “the,” “a,” or “an”). If no author is known for an
encyclopedia, magazine or Internet source, start the
reference with the article title.
Encyclopedia
reference:
Author Last Name, First
Initial. “Article Title.” Encyclopedia Name.
Copyright date. Volume number, Page number(s).
Example: Mech, D. “Ostrich.” World Book. 2002
ed. Vol. 17, 16.
