FBLA members challenge middle school students to donate

Schuylerville Middle School students involved in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club are challenging their classmates to bring in non-perishable food items for the Schuylerville Area Food and Emergency Relief. The third annual food drive runs from Nov. 18-Dec. 12.

“The students in FBLA see our school as a family and they are quick to point out that family takes care of family,” FBLA advisor Heidi Smith said. “The students are making the real world connection that with everyone helping, our community family grows strong.”

Schuylerville Middle School students are being encouraged to submit a “super challenge” for Principal Katie Elsworth and Assistant Principal Aaron Grady to participate in once the goal of 800 food items have been collected.

Last year, the eighth grade class won the challenge by donating more food items than grades 6 and 7 combined. As of Friday, Nov. 21, the eighth grade black team was in the lead with almost 300 food items donated.
