Environmental club members attend youth climate summit

Youth Climate SummitFive Schuylerville High School environmental club members took part in the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit from Wednesday, Nov. 8 to Thursday, Nov. 9. at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Samantha Ellis (senior), Violet Smith (junior), Lauren Blackwood (junior), Kaela Ellis (sophomore) and Haleigh Eustis (sophomore) spent the first day of the summit attending workshops focused on how youth can help their school and community become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. On day two, the students were tasked with making their own climate plan for the year. The group was enthusiastic about setting goals to become more carbon neutral to help reduce the effects of climate change.
