The African Experience
The explosive hand
drumming ensemble brings the sounds of the Djemble (West
African drums) and Doundoun (West African drumming
sticks) to Schuylerville with surprising intensity. This group believes
that music transcends the boundaries of culture,
creating a brilliant and creative atmosphere for the
students. |
Blue
Jupiter A Capella
Internationally known, this pop/funk a capella group
joins our students at Schuylerville for a rip-roaring
good time. The group members educate children on
different styles of a capella, guiding them through
history lessons of music and allowing them to sing along
and ask pointed questions about the band. Older students
benefit from hearing an abbreviated educational
concert, as well as from the Q&A session that follows.

Ted Brown's
Masters and Maestros series
Talented thespian Ted Brown wows students with his
portrayals of artistic and musical giants throughout the
centuries, from Beethoven to Picasso. He takes the
audience with him into the lives of these people, to
show their amazing talent and impact on society and
culture as we know it. |
Red Grammer
Grammy Award nominee for Best Musical Album
for Children, Red Grammer brings his incredible voice to
Schuylerville to nourish the hearts and souls of our
children. Grammer’s music centers on many character
development themes, including kindness, caring, honesty,

The
Hudson River Ramblers
Presented by Rich Bala and Jonathan Kruk, this program
blends stories, songs and music into a cohesive
presentation of oral history. Rich and Jonathan
encourage students to participate in their stories and
songs that depict New York State’s vital role in the
American Revolution. Advance material is provided for
teachers that includes a glossary of terms and follow-up
activities to extend students’ education on the subject.

Kim and Reggie Harris
These gifted singers/composers/ storytellers have
developed some remarkable presentations that bring
history, life issues and current events right off the
page! With such programs as exploring the life of
Harriet Tubman, singing about baseball star Satchel
Paige or using audience participation to learn to save

Kit’s
Kaboodle—Historical Interactive Theatre
Cinderella’s Storyland
tells students the tale of Cinderella, who is about to
marry the Prince. However, her Fairy Godmother appears
with a riddle to be solved first! Join in the hilarious
search, along with song, dance, avoiding the Giant and much more!
The
Immigrants
allows students to go back in
time to Liverpool, England in 1894. Students will follow
the extraordinary journey of Irish immigrant Maggie
McLaughlin and experience the trials and tribulations of
ocean passage, Ellis Island examinations and settling
into a strange, hostile world.
The Civil War
is a program that takes place in Virginia, circa 1865.
Miss Charlotte Beauregard speaks of her troubles during
the Civil War. The first shots at Fort Sumter, the
Underground Railroad and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address
all unfold in the telling of the war between the States.
The Renaissance
enlightens students to the splendor of Elizabethan
history, as well as manners and customs in 1598 England.
Court dancing, ladyship and knighthood exhibitions are
all magnificently explored with Lady Celia Beaumont.

Lake George Opera Company
In their Opera to Go program, Lake George Opera teaches
elementary students to appreciate classical opera by
incorporating fun and well-known stories. Performers
combine familiar texts with song and theatrics to
entertain and educate the entire audience. Previous
programs have included Three Little Pigs and
Jack and the Beanstalk. Click

Maestro Charles Peltz
Peltz works directly with
Schuylerville’s Elementary and Jr.-Sr. High Bands. He
listens to their performances and then provides feedback
for the students on how to improve their sound, as well
as gives instruction to sections of musicians and
individual musicians. This is a great learning
experience for our students. |
The
Mother Goose Jazz Band
This group is an educational and entertaining band that
introduces children to the world of jazz.
Call-and-response, the blues, improvisation, steady beat
and syncopation are discussed through musical
arrangements. The music of jazz greats, such as Sonny
Rollins and Charlie Parker, are introduced to the
students in an easy-to-digest fashion, broadening the
listening audience for the jazz world. Click

Puppet People: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
A thrilling comic rendition of Washington Irving’s
haunting tale of the Headless Horseman! This show
focuses on the themes of bulling, jealousy and
superstition. It features classical and tradition folk
music, as well as two life-sized puppets. The students
are delighted with the colorful costumes and
stunning marionette puppets as they learn about

Susan Hamlin
As a full-time professional singer, guitarist and
composer, Susan Hamlin brings her creative approach to
classroom teaching to Schuylerville students. She uses
various ideas to educate on self-esteem, music,
historical anecdotes, as well as helping students
develop their own artistic inspirations. Click

Ugandan Dance Troupe
Uganda Heritage Roots is a culturally oriented project,
using traditional Ugandan arts (such as music, dance and
local folklore) to develop confidence and talent in
students, as well as educate them on the vital culture
of Uganda. In these presentations, the country and
traditions of Uganda are kept alive by the dancers and
by the students who learn from them. Click

Uncle Brothers
Within their catchy acoustic pop songs, Danny Quinn and
Tom Gai manage to sneak in some subtle messages to kids
about how to address certain topics, such as saying no
to drugs and how to deal with teasing. Included in their
repertoire are tunes stressing the importance of
manners, like writing thank-you notes and saying you’re
sorry. Their mixed songs are a hit with students, who
sing and dance along to such lively beats as “The Man in

The
Zucchini Brothers
Performing a variety of shows across the country, the
Zucchini Brothers come to Schuylerville bearing such
messages as the importance of personal health and
hygiene, safety with strangers, environmentalism,
