Schuylerville’s Robotics Team will be competing in its first competition of the season at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on March 14 and 15, 2014. Dubbed “Nuts and Bolts,” the team will be facing off against other student teams in this FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition (FRC). Nuts and Bolts team members spent six weeks conceptualizing, designing, building and programming a robot to participate in a competition that changes each year. This year’s competition is entitled Aerial Assist and requires robots to work both in teams and independently to score goals on a 25’ x 54’ field. The event is drawing teams from as far away as Montreal and Turkey.
