Schuylerville’s turf field has yielded nearly $4,000
in revenues for the district since the beginning of the year. The
revenues are generated from fees for the field’s use by non-district
teams for practices and sectional play. At the start of the year, four
such events were scheduled; this quickly grew to nearly 20 athletic
events. Last year, the revenues from the field were approximately
$2,700.
When the turf field was presented as an option to Schuylerville voters
in February 2010, district officials predicted the field would generate
approximately $1,000 per year. “We’re excited to report that our
expectations for the turf field revenues have been surpassed,” said
Superintendent Dr. Ryan Sherman. “Athletes from around the region and
beyond love the quality of our facilities and the demand is growing.”
In June 2013, the turf field will be the site of its most far-reaching
events — the Junior Olympics. The event promises to not only bring
prestige and revenue to the district, but also help generate business
for local restaurants, hotels, stores and other tourist-related
industries.
The fees collected for use of Schuylerville’s turf field are put back
into the district’s general fund to support all academic and other
programs.
